Family Passion
The strength to realize a dream

Through the dream and the work of Marco Mazzarini, Tuscan oenologist and agronomist, the Famiglia Mazzarrini brand was born, serving high-quality wines bottled at the source, made following the ancient tradition of Tuscan chianti in a territory naturally predisposed to select vineyards.
From the vine to the bottle, everything embodies the strong values of a family that, with infinite passion and great technical expertise, expresses, in its wine, the truth of a place, its people, and its culture.

Famiglia Mazzarrini is a wine brand born from the many years of experience of Marco Mazzarrini, enologist and agronomist, and his wife, Adriana. The family business, in which two of his three children work, is complete and autonomous, managing the entire process for producing high-quality wines bottled at the source. From the vine to the bottle, everything embodies the strong Tuscan values of family and tradition.

It reached a high prestige thanks to its excellent wines and due to the success of Poggio Amorelli, wine appreciated and purchased worldwide; today the company has three estates in Tuscany, produces 6 types of wine, vinsanto, grappa and olive oil. The 4 family members and 9 employees work there, but are not prepared to give up the size of the family-owned company; they believe that the real goal is to grow in quality rather than size, to maintain its specificity and its winning features, values, tradition and high quality of products, to differentiate themselves in a global marketplace increasingly tending to standardized traditions and tastes.

The Poggio Amorelli estate, heart of the Famiglia Mazzarrini brand, is located in the center of Chianti, just a few kilometers from the historic center of Castellina; it represents an unspoiled corner in which to relax surrounded by nature, tasting local products of excellent quality. Here the grapes are grown and treated, and vinification and bottling take place. The first floor of the farmhouse offers elegant tastings for wine lovers and enthusiasts. The ground floor hosts groups interested in Tuscan food and wine culture.

What makes the Famiglia Mazzarrini’s work and products so special are the characteristics on which their work is founded. They begin from Marco Mazzarrini’s great passion for wine. The owner of the company is personally responsible for the cultivation and production of wine because he loves this job and chose this as the realization of his lifetime dream.

Another key feature is the great skill that wine makers must have. In the case of Famiglia Mazzarrini, the owner is an enologist and agronomist, guaranteeing a high quality product made not only with passion, but also with precise methods and professionalism.

Another fundamental value linked to the above is the completeness of the process followed in every aspect and stage by the family. As owners of the vineyards and the winery, they do everything in house, according to their own ideas and values, their great experience and tradition and without having to resort to unorthodox methods.

It is clear that Famiglia Mazzarrini has decided and is able to give its products a feature such as high quality. All choices are made at the expense of quantity and commercial logic, instead adopting solutions that lead to select high or very high quality wines.

Perhaps the deepest characteristic that Famiglia Mazzarrini can infuse into its wines is the essence of being Tuscan. Marco and his family are true Chianti Tuscans; they have a strong relationship with their land and, specifically, with the Chianti area and the historic choice of wine and vineyards. That means giving to their work the experience handed down from father to son for centuries, in a land devoted to the viticulture and wine-making since the days of the Etruscans.

Famiglia Mazzarrini is convinced that producing wine means to instill in the product the ideals, dreams, and family values that guide the work and determine each specific choice. The family members are indeed lovers of truth, genuineness, and simplicity--understood as without sophistication, without adulteration- they are supporters of family values of mutual aid and cohesion.

They are spontaneous and easygoing, modern and active, open to updates and the different needs of the market, but without betraying the solid values of honesty and quality. Humble in internal relations and with the public and employees, they did not change their attitude after attaining business success. Hard workers, they wake up early and work all day, guided by the belief that work ennobles, especially if it is understood as a commitment to an honest exchange of value with the customer.

Finally, they are supporters and lovers of the values of the Tuscan tradition. For centuries, the Tuscan people have developed a morality that cares lovingly for their territory, desiring harmony between man and nature (and the beautiful Tuscan countryside to prove it); they are proud of their work and abilities.

In every drop of wine you can sense the aroma of all these values of the Famiglia Mazzarrini.

It is now 1995. Marco was the director of a major winery, enologist and agronomist when he met Adriana. Marco and Adriana married and dedicated themselves to the family, but at the same time they sacrificed to purchase their first land in Castellina in Chianti and dedicated themselves to the realization of their dream to become direct wine producers. At the same time, Marco continued the winemaking profession, working for many major companies.

The land purchased was not planted with vines. Marco decided to plant a vineyard of Sangiovese-the quintessential Tuscan wine-grape variety that is at its maximum expression in the land of the type purchased. Raising the Sangiovese grape is difficult, a challenge. To realize his dream, he invested everything in building a high-level professional cellar.

The first production arrived in ‘97. From then on, through slow and continuous development based on quality, exportation and direct sales, and thanks to the acquisition of new land, Famiglia Mazzarrini was able to increase production and its number of labels.

In 2005, the company was now well-structured and able to invest to create the conditions to welcome tourists for eno-gastronomic guided tours and tastings and to spread the culture of wine and the Tuscan tradition.

The activity flourished, and the supply capacity expanded to meet the increasingly significant requests. The last stage of this process was the purchase of two new estates to expand the vineyards and add a new type of wine. The investment also allowed expanding the tasting space and dedicating the elegant Poggio Amorelli space to high profile tourists, and the new estate’s modern and functional setting to welcoming visits by large groups.
